Our first in a series of events both online and in-person for community growers in Exeter.
Wednesday 16th February, 6.30pm - 8pm
Via Zoom
What should we plant in community spaces? What are some of the pitfalls?
Join this session to hear from community growing projects in Exeter about their experiences.
Gina Richards, Trustee of the Exeter Community Centre, will talk about the fundamental issues facing any community garden scheme.
Judith Dawes-Richardson, Newtown resident, will talk about projects in the Newtown area she has initiated and the selection of planting being done to encourage biodiversity, including plans to lay a hedge using native species.
Olya Petrakova, Director of Maketank, a cultural lab for social change located on Paris Street, will talk about the organisation’s year-long theme and project: ‘Rewilding the City‘. She will also be organising an event for the City’s community greening groups to meet and ‘speed date’!
There will also be plenty of time for a breakout session to discuss the presentations and share knowledge of each other’s projects and challenges.
